“The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone forces his way into it.
For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. And even when you saw it, you did not afterward change your minds and believe him.
And all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came after him, also proclaimed these days. You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.’
What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is he of whom it is written, “‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’ Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force. For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John,
Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’”
What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is he of whom it is written, “‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’ I tell you, among those born of women none is greater than John. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” (When all the people heard this, and the tax collectors too, they declared God just, having been baptized with the baptism of John,
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ would suffer, he thus fulfilled.
But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’
‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’
Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’
And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal.
Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God,
So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are gaining nothing. Look, the world has gone after him.”
If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”
But he went out and began to talk freely about it, and to spread the news, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter a town, but was out in desolate places, and people were coming to him from every quarter.
And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people.
